Buckle

The precious buckle consists of two heart-shaped sections with wavy ends. The point where they connect is accentuated by a green gemstone. There are two lions rampant flanking the tree of life in each of the two parts. The theme is integrated into the floral decoration which covers the buckle’s surfaces. Buckles played an important role in popular dress as a means of projecting social standing. Moreover, gilded buckles were soon adopted as an element in the belts of priestly vestments.
