Educational programs for the exhibition “Prometheus Unbound – A masterpiece rediscovered”

EDUCATION PROGRAM FOR SCHOOLS
3rd and 4th grade of Primary School

Prometheus stole fire from gods and gave it to humans. Zeus got angry with this action and ordered Hephaestus to chain Prometheus on top of Mount Caucasus. Many centuries later Heracles climbed Caucasus and freed Prometheus. In the CAMU program, the kids will learn the Promethean myth and search for the main heroes on the vases and statuettes of the collection. Then, they will visit the “Prometheus Unbound” exhibition, where they will represent the liberation of Prometheus. At the end they will create their one lanterns, where they will pain their own version of the myth.

2. Large paintings, small conservators! (in Greek)

EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM FOR PRIMARY SCHOOL KIDS

“Prometheus Unbound” is a monumental painting (4 X 3 m. large), 160 years old (created in 1864). How could the artist paint so huge figures? How did they survive in time? What can we do to protect them?

In this program, the kids will learn through play and performative techniques the history of this important painting by Carl Bloch, and how the conservators help to save and preserve artworks!
